ACTA in a Nutshell –
What is ACTA? ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.
Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”
What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

I got my heart right here: If you see a link to a "new" Megaupload DO NOT CLICK IT
It can land you in prison for 10 years. Clicking the link opens up something that will force you to perform a DDoS attack on certain websites (for example, the MPAA website). The goal is to take all of the…

26.01 EU is going to signed ACTA. We have our own SOPA.What can we do?Write to your politics in the European Parliament.Talk about that.Make websites.Repost.We have only one week.ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
SIGNAL BOOST!!
Ho fucking god no…. not another…
EVEN THOUGH I’M AMERICAN, I’M SIGNAL BOOSTIN’ THIS SHIT!!!
SIGNAL BOOST.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, YOU GUYS.
WTF
Reblogging even though I’m American. Ths shit must be stopped.
this is fucking awful and… oh, I though they already signed it on 17th december what made me sort of sadmad
needs more research on my part apparently
also, the secretive negotiations… make me absolutely sick
Hahaha.
Hasn’t this euro crisis been just splendid? With all this mayhem going on, it was so wonderfully simple to sneak the negotiations and the signing past the public’s eye over the last year. And now it’s down to the European Parliament! That super effective body in EU legislative. The parliament which did such a heroic job of standing up to America’s insane Stasi— sorry, SWIFT agreement two years ago, only to fall over and wave it through a short while later. That is just brilliant. We’re screwed.
If you’re in the EU and your country has a branch of the pirate party, support and vote for them, no matter how silly and incompetent they seem. That’s the only really helpful thing I can think of here, tbh. May lead to Weimarisation, but—- seriously.
Trivia I just found on German wikipedia: The EU commission agreed to ACTA during a non-public fishing and agriculture meeting.
THIS SORT OF SHIT IS WHY THERE IS RAGING HATRED AGAINST THE EU GROWING EVERYWHERE AND I CANNOT EVEN BLAME THEM
oh man i sort of forget that the EU can even do anything except regulate vegetable sizes and give Nick Griffin an aneurysm
whoops
Well, fuck.
